THE FINE PRINT
Privacy policy
Last updated August 17, 2026
Vanometry runs on as little of your information as it can. No account is needed to use the editor, there are no ads, and nothing is sold to anyone. This page says exactly what we hold, why we hold it, who else touches it, how long it stays, and how to get rid of all of it.
What we hold
If you never sign in
Your design is stored in your own browser's local storage and never reaches us. We get the analytics described below, and our hosts keep ordinary web server logs, which include IP addresses and browser user agents. Nothing on that path identifies you to us by name.
If you create an account
- Your email address. If you set a password, it's stored as a hash by Supabase Auth and we never see it. If you sign in by email link, there's no password at all.
- Your cloud designs. The title and the full layout: components, positions, dimensions, finishes, and any prices or notes you entered, plus when it was created and last changed.
- Builds you've shared. The link's slug, the title, the layout data, and which account created it. These are readable by anyone with the link, which is the point of them.
If you buy Pro
- Your Stripe customer ID, whether the account has Pro access, and the date that access runs to.
- Your card details never touch our servers. Stripe collects and holds those; we get back an identifier and a status. Your name and billing address, if Stripe collects them, stay with Stripe.
If you join the newsletter
Your email address, whether you've confirmed it, when you subscribed, and when you unsubscribed. The list is kept by email address, not by account: joining doesn't create an account, and deleting an account doesn't remove a subscription made with the same address.
What we don't do
- We don't run ads on Vanometry.
- We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We never send your designs, dimensions, prices, or anything you type into the editor to analytics or to anyone else.
- There's no social login, so we hold no Google or Facebook profile data about you.
- We don't profile you or make automated decisions about you.
Why we hold each thing
- Email address: to sign you in, confirm the account, send receipts and the heads-up before Pro access ends, and answer you when you write in.
- Designs: so they're there next time and on your other devices.
- Shared builds: so the link works for whoever you sent it to.
- Stripe IDs and access dates: so the app can check whether your account is Pro and when that access ends.
- Newsletter subscription: to send you the issues you signed up for, and nothing else.
- Analytics: so we can see which parts of the planner actually get used.
Who else processes it
These are the only companies that handle Vanometry user data, each under its own privacy policy. We don't hand your information to anyone else unless the law requires it.
| Who | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, accounts, and sign-in email | United States |
| Stripe | Payments, card details, receipts | United States |
| Vercel | Hosting, delivery, server logs, and anonymous usage counts | United States |
| Resend | Sending the newsletter and our own account emails | United States |
Cookies and analytics
- Staying signed in. Supabase keeps a session token in your browser so you don't have to sign in on every visit. Without it, accounts couldn't work at all.
- Your analytics choice. The opt-out flag is stored in your browser, which is why it applies per browser and per device.
- Anonymous usage counts. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without storing anything in your browser: no cookies, no identifiers on your device. Visits are grouped by a short-lived hash on Vercel's servers that's discarded within 24 hours. You can still switch it off for your browser, and when you do, the script never loads at all. Nothing is merely filtered later.
- Affiliate links. When you click a product link, the retailer (Amazon, for example) may set cookies to attribute the referral, under its own privacy policy. That happens at their end, not ours. See the affiliate disclosure.
- We set no advertising or analytics cookies at all.
How long we keep it
- Your account, designs, and shared builds stay until you delete them or delete the account.
- Payment records outlive the account. Stripe keeps its own transaction history, and we keep the record of what was charged for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Usage counts are aggregated and expire on Vercel's retention schedule, and server logs on our hosts' schedules. Neither is tied to your account.
Your choices
Wherever you live, all of this is available to you:
- See what we hold. Email support@vanometry.com and we'll send it to you.
- Correct it. Your email address in the account menu, your designs in the editor.
- Take it with you. Every design exports, and a share link opens for anyone without an account.
- Delete it. Account menu, then Delete account. No email to us required, and nothing to wait for.
- Turn analytics off. At /optout.
- Email. Transactional mail (confirmations, sign-in links, receipts, the heads-up before Pro access ends, and notice of changes to these policies) goes out only when your account calls for it. The newsletter is separate and opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm your address, and every issue has an unsubscribe link that works without signing in.
If you're in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know, delete, and correct what we hold, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of it. We don't sell or share personal information as that law defines it, so there's nothing to opt out of, and we won't treat you any differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you're in the UK or the EEA, the GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability. Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (your account, your designs, your Pro access), our legitimate interest in understanding how the planner is used (analytics, which you can switch off), and legal obligation (tax records). You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
Email support@vanometry.com for any of it. We aim to answer inside 30 days.
Deleting your account
Delete account sits in the account menu in the editor. It immediately and permanently removes:
- your sign-in record, including your email address
- every cloud design on the account
- every build you've shared, so those links stop working for everyone
- your plan record and the Stripe identifiers on it
Pro access ends with the account. There's nothing behind it that could keep charging you. Any paid time left on it is lost, so if you're inside the 14-day refund window, ask for the refund before you delete.
Three things survive on purpose: the payment record described above, analytics data that was never tied to your account in the first place, and any newsletter subscription, which is kept by email address rather than by account. The unsubscribe link in any issue ends that one. A design saved only in your browser isn't ours to delete; clearing your site data clears it.
Children
Vanometry isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email support@vanometry.com and we'll delete it.
Where your data is stored
Our database, hosting, and payment processing all run in the United States. If you use Vanometry from somewhere else, your information is processed in the United States.
If you're in the UK or the EEA, those transfers rest on recognized safeguards: Stripe and Vercel are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Supabase's data processing agreement incorporates the EU standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum to them.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over HTTPS. The database enforces row-level security, so one account can't read another's designs. We never see your card number and we never see your password. No system is perfectly secure and we won't pretend otherwise, but if a breach ever affected your account, we'd tell you.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top says when this last changed in substance. If a change materially affects you, we'll email account holders before it takes effect.
