Dimensions are the bare interior from manufacturer and body-builder specs: a 96-inch-wide body runs about 92 inches inside, and the 102-inch bodies on the 20 and 26 footers run about 97. The planner accounts for insulation and paneling when it derives the finished interior, and you can replace any number with your own measurements. Payload figures are ratings where published and estimates where not.

What to know

Flat walls, square corners

A box truck is the friendliest shell to lay out: vertical walls, square corners, and a flat roof, so cabinets sit flush and nothing has to be scribed to a curve. Most bodies run about 92 inches inside, wide enough to sleep crosswise and keep the rest of the floor open.

The U-Haul shelf is modeled

The 15 and 20-foot U-Haul templates carry the raised shelf over the cab at its published height. Drag items onto it to plan storage or a sleeping platform, and lay out the flat floor below it as usual.

Tested against a real build

Mike, the founder, is about halfway through converting a 16-foot Isuzu NPR. He started Vanometry because the planning tools he could find were not worth the money. His real build, with its real costs, is the demo. See the demo build →

Common questions

Which box trucks are in the planner?+

12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 26-foot boxes, plus the 15 and 20-foot U-Haul trucks with their published inside dimensions and the shelf over the cab. If your box is different, enter your own interior length, width, and height, and the grid, snapping, and payload math follow your numbers.

Will the dimensions match my truck?+

The templates state the bare interior from body-builder specs, and real boxes vary by an inch or two. The best path is to measure your own box and enter the numbers. The templates are starting points.

Does it track weight?+

With Pro you see the added weight of everything you place against the truck’s payload rating while you plan. Box conversions get heavy, and most builds run out of payload before they run out of floor.

Is it free?+
