Common questions

How wide is a Ford Transit between the wheel wells?+

About 54.8 inches. Each rear wheel well takes about 7.7 inches of the 70.2-inch cargo width.

Is the Transit Connect the same van?+

No. The Transit Connect is a separate compact van with a much smaller cargo area. Its dimensions are on the compact cargo van page.

How much space do insulation and paneling take?+

The finished figures on this page allow about 1 inch per surface: each side wall, the ceiling, the floor, and the front wall. The rear is the door. A cold-climate build with thicker insulation takes more. In the planner you can choose the build-out level, or enter your own measurements.
