Mercedes Sprinter cargo van interior dimensions

The Sprinter is sold in the US on a 144-inch or 170-inch wheelbase, with a standard or high roof, plus an extended body on the 170. Every size has the same 70-inch cargo width. The high roof gives 79 inches of height inside, which is why it is the most common Sprinter for camper conversions.

Length is the cargo floor behind the front seats.

Common questions

How wide is a Sprinter between the wheel wells?+

About 53 inches. The cargo area is 70 inches wide at its widest point, and each rear wheel well takes about 8.5 inches.

What is the difference between the 170 and the 170 extended?+

The extended body adds about 15 inches of length behind the rear axle. The wheelbase, width and height are the same.

How much space do insulation and paneling take?+

The finished figures on this page allow about 1 inch per surface: each side wall, the ceiling, the floor, and the front wall. The rear is the door. A cold-climate build with thicker insulation takes more. In the planner you can choose the build-out level, or enter your own measurements.
